A. Not as of 08/03/2006 There have been many rumours as well as interviews that do indicate that a demo will eventually be available. We will update this when one does become available.
Q. Are there any patches available for CivCity Rome?
A. Not as of Aug 23, 2006. There is however a patch that is being worked on right now, though there is no ETA on when it will be available.
Q. Where can I find more CivCity Rome maps or campaigns to play?
A. Our Downloads section is now available. You must be a registered member of this website to download anything from the download area and you must be signed in to download the content that is available here.
Q. Can I modify the GUI (graphical user interface) in the game?
A. Yes, you can modify quite a bit actually, check out our modding forum for more information or to add your own information.
Q. Are there any cheats for CivCity Rome?
A. It depends on what you mean by cheats. Some people say that anything that you have to type in a code or perform a certain action for, would be considered a cheat. We do know about some undocumented features.
1. You can unlock your camera angles and thus increase the zoom levels as well as have almost inifinite camera angles. To do this, you will type the following while in the city view of the game: Hit your ENTER key then type the word NERO then hit your ENTER key again. Then press your SHIFT+C keys. Your camera angle is now unlocked.
Q. How do I rotate buildings?
A. You can either spin your middle mouse wheel or use the r key on your keyboard.
Q. What are the keyboard control hotkeys?
A. The known hotkeys are documented on the back of the user manual. You do have your manual dont you?
Q. How can I take a screenshot while playing CivCity Rome?
A. You should press the PrintScreen key on your keyboard and then Alt+tab the game down and paste the screenshot into a graphics program such as Paint and save it. The manual mentions using Alt+Q to take a screenshot but we were told that the information pertaining to taking a screenshot in the manual should have been removed before going to print.
Q. Is CivCity Rome available for the MAC?
A. No. The game has only just been recently released for PC's. We here at civcityforums.com have not been told about any ports for MACs in the near future.
Q. Is there a list of all the buildings and structures in the game?
A. We are currently working on a list of all structures that are currently in the game. Check our home page. You will see it announced when it is available.
Q. Are there any known cheats to help me get through the tough parts of the game?
A. Yes there have been one or two shortcuts that our members have discovered that should help you to get over any parts of the game that you are having trouble with.
ALT-K This will allow you to instantly win the current mission. Note that all cheats and or Alt Letter combination key presses require that you use the Nero unlock code first. To use the Nero unlock code you should press your Enter key, then type in the word Nero, then press your Enter key again.
Q. Why don’t houses have a minimum wealth to upgrade?
A. Yes at one point this was a feature in the game and the system became very problematic in which you would find many people never had enough money to upgrade or that if they lived in a palace they would never had enough money to buy any goods. It kind of stopped the flow of the game, finding people who don't have enough money to upgrade and just waiting for them to get enough money didn't really work. I am unable to comment on wither this will be put back in the game, obviously it not my dissuasion, though I will certainly let it be known that people like the idea of it.
Q. Why do my citizens not lose money when they buy goods, but the citizen selling the good gains money?
A. If people did have to pay for goods they would often run out of money, meaning they could not buy the commodities they needed to upgrade, which would kind of slow down game play.
Q. Why do my citizens "retire" when I manually upgrade their house? They will be listed as not having a job, and they put an unneeded burden on space having to house "retired" citizens.
A. They are not retired they simply seek new employment once they have reached a insula, domus or palace.
Q. “I've got to ask as well, the question that is on the tips of all our tongues... who came up with the idea to hang the meat on the wall? What a tremendous idea”
A. We hang meat on the walls of our office all the time
Q. How does the Senate work?
I can't give people jobs there and I've only seen them in a meeting once.
A. People do not work at the senate as such, when people have the need to go to the senate, a discussion will be held there and senators will appear, the sentators are not people that live in your city they are kind of like the people in the taverna or theatre.
Q. What happened to the finance graph that was in the game manual?
A. Was taken out of the game, will be in the patch.
Q. Will the report screens get modified/changed at all in future patches?
A. Yes
Q. Can you please explain how the rations get calculated when they're taken from a granary?
A. Get back to you hopefully later on about that.
Q. Why do gates allow the enemy army through?
A. Fixed in the patch.
